What can you use the app for?

Hirewall.com is an online software-as-a-service hiring system that streamlines the recruitment process for small and medium-sized businesses. The system allows users to create candidates, assign recruitment tasks to team members, and manage the flow of the hiring process. Candidates can be recruited independently or by third party recruiters, and the user can follow the progress of individual recruiters during a hiring campaign. To use the system, the user first creates a candidate and enters the details for the ideal candidate such as experience, salary and job duties. At this point the user also selects whether or not to use third-party recruiters to locate the candidate. Then the user assigns the various hiring tasks, such as reviewing CVs, scheduling and interviewing the candidate to team members.
The user can then follow the workflow from the user’s Dashboard, or view more detailed information by selecting Jobs or Candidates from the top menu bar. The Jobs page gives a summary of the currently open jobs and the Candidates page gives a summary of the currently active Candidates listed with the job they are associated with. The system takes care of emailing candidates, recruiters and interviewers for scheduling meetings and interviews. In addition, the system allows the creation of SLAs (Service Level Agreements) with recruiters so that the hiring manager and recruiter are on the same page throughout the hiring process.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

Wellington, New Zealand-based Hirewall.com was launched in February 2009 by co-founders Tim de Jardine, who is currently CEO, Nathan Li, who is currently CTO and Nick de Jardine, who is currently Creative Director. Hirewall.com was shut down not long after launch.

What are the differences to other apps?

Competition to Hirewall comes from sites such as CVRoster and ICIMS. CVRoster is also a complete, web-based hiring application. However, rather than being based on a software-as-a-service model, CVRoster is available for purchase at a one-time price. The user then owns the hiring solution rather than rents it. ICIMS is also available for a one-time fee, but includes performance management and other HR software applications in addition to the hiring application.

The user interface is very intuitive, with convenient top menu bars shown on all sections of the site. There is no advertising displayed on the Hirewall site.

How does the registration process work?

Registration to the Hirewall.com site is free and is required to use the application. The registration process asks for first and last name, company name (optional), email address, password and timezone. Validation of the email address is not required.

What does it cost to use the application?

The Hirewall.com service is currently free and no premium membership is offered to the site. Look for the company to announce pricing soon, however.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Hirewall.com is recommended to anyone who has the responsibility for hiring job candidates in small to medium-sized businesses. The system does a good job of streamlining the hiring process, and offloading some of the work from the hiring manager by using team members to perform some tasks. The hiring manager can also easily track the progress of the hiring process.
